Flying Ad Demands Penn State Remove Statue of Paterno

Updated:
The Associated Press confirmed the company flying the ad over Penn State is the same company that harassed Tiger Woods in 2010. The Associated Press confirmed the company flying the ad over Penn State is the same company that harassed Tiger Woods in 2010.

The same aviation company that taunted Tiger Woods in 2010 is at again. This time Air America Ads is flying a controversial banner over Penn State demanding the removal of a Joe Paterno statue.

The plane has been flying a banner that reads "Take the statue down or we will."

The ad is a response to a report last week that revealed that Paterno knew about the child sex abuse allegations against former assistant Jerry Sandusky but helped to cover it up. The Associated Press attempted to call the business to find out who paid for the banner, but the company refused to say.

Nike last week said it would take Paterno's name off its Child Development Center because of the sex abuse case. Paterno's alma mater, Brown University, said it was taking his name off an annual athletic award. And a Penn State student group decided to change the name of its rallying spot from "Paternoville" to "Nittanyville".

WJAC-TV in Pennsylvania reported Penn State officials have not yet decided what to do with the 7-foot statue of Paterno that sits on the school campus.
