Fever no loner just happy to be here, expect to win United Bowl

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The saying goes, do not get revenge, get even. That is the mantra the Tri-Cities Fever carries into Saturday's United Bowl. The Fever wants payback for last year's 37 to 10 United Bowl loss to Sioux Falls.

"I think it's time for us to take over the throne. They've been doing very well since Chris Dixon's been there and before then. We played with them well here and when we was on the road and I think our talent showed we're just as talented if not more talented in some areas as them," said Houston Lillard, Fever quarterback.

The Fever says one of the main differences between last year's United Bowl and this years, is that they were just happy to be here in last year's championship game. While this year, they expected to make it back to the title game.

"Our goal is not to get to the championship game. Our goal has been to win it so we have a lot more expectations this season so if we don't come home with a trophy we're going to be pretty disappointed," said Jake Killeen, Fever defensive end.

The Fever lost both meetings to the Storm this season. The last game, a 73 to 72 overtime loss. The Fever says they learned they can play with Sioux Falls.

"That gives us confidence, this whole year has given us confidence. You know unfortunately we had a down game when we were there but when they came here you know it kind of brought us back to our reality and let us know," added Steven Whitehead, Fever wide receiver.

The Fever say a win tomorrow would be huge for the franchise and for the league.

"I think a win there - I think it would probably be the biggest win in this league's history," said Adam Shackleford, Fever head coach.

It would be the second Indoor Football League title in franchise history.
