EUGENE, Ore. - A pair of Inland Northwest athletes are headed to the London Olympic games.

Former University High School pole vaulter Brad Walker, 31, won the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials Thursday night at Hayward Field in Eugene, OR, qualifying for the London Olympic Games. Walker will represent the USA in the Olympics for the second time.

Also, former Washington State University graduate Bernard Lagat, 37, came in second in the men's 5,000 meter on Thursday night at Hayward Field.

Walker, a Spokane native, qualified for the 2008 Beijing Olympics but failed clear a height in the preliminary rounds.

Lagat, Kenyan-born, become a naturalized citizen in 2005 and graduated from WSU having won three NCAA individual championships; the indoor mile and 3000m, as well as the 5000m outdoors.
