Hillsboro mayor says Yakima Bears agree to terms on new stadium

Posted: Updated:

HILLSBORO, Ore. -- Tuesday Hillsboro mayor Jerry Willey told the Oregonian the Yakima Bears and the Northwest League agreed to terms on a new stadium in Hillsboro. The Bears have not confirmed with SWX yet, but last week the Bears did tell SWX Hillsboro looks more promising.

"People have been supportive to keeping the Bears in town, but unfortunately nothing has happened. So unfortunately there's nothing for us to count on. So I think the owners are looking at the Hillsboro situation as a long-term future, while there's no promise of anything here," Bears General Manager K.L. Wombacher said.
