EUEGENE, Ore. -- The Emeralds jumped out to the early 3-0 lead after a three run blast from First Baseman Clark Murphy. The Emeralds also enjoyed three strong innings from rehab starter Chris Fetter who struck out two and allowed just one hit.

Brandon Alger followed up with his proffessional debut, throwing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. After a second Clark Murphy home run the Ems took a 4-1 lead into the 7th inning.

Stephen Carmon provided a two out spark with when he ended up at third base after a walk and a stolen base combined with a throwing error from Yakima catcher, Ronnie Freeman. Eric Charles drove him in two batters later with an RBI single and the Ems were cruising up 5-1 through seven innings.

The Bears struck back in the 8th inning off of Alexis Lara with a leadoff double from Freeman followed by hit by pitch for Daniel. Yogey Perez-Ramos and Josh Parr added RBI singles and the lead was cut to 5-3. Mark Picca came on for the Ems and was almost out of the jam when what should have been an inning ending double-play turned into a two-run throwing error to tie the game.

In the bottom of the 10th the Ems were gifted two runners via hit batsman. After River Stevens and Rodney Daal flied-out, it was left to Clark Murphy with two down. The star of the night did not disappoint and he hit a walk off double over the left-fielders head to send the Emeralds home happy.

This was the first of a 5-game set, the Bears and Emeralds will square-off again Saturday at 7:05pm.
