Kayla Standish, from Ellensburg, Wash., was taken by the Minnesota Lynx as the No. 19 overall pick in the WNBA draft on Monday. Standish told reporters following her selection that being drafted was "a dream come true".

Former Gonzaga standout Kayla Standish hoped to play for the Minnesota Lynx this year in the WNBA. That didn't work out, so now she's off to Australia.

Standish was the 19th overall pick in the draft. Unfortunately, the Lynx cut her during training camp, leaving her without a team.

Never one to give up easily, Standish will join the Townsville Fire in Australia. She will join another former Zag in the great Down Under. Heather Bowman currently plays for the Frankston Blues.
