Chris Herren was the all set to succeed in the NBA. He was drafted by the Denver Nuggets in 1999. He was traded to Boston in 2000. And then his career ended because of his addiction to drugs.
Herren will tell his story – his rise, fall and recovery – at this year's Hoopfest in Spokane. Once the subject of an ESPN "30-for-30" documentary, he will speak June 28th on the main court in Riverfront Park. The event is free. He will also be the keynote speaker at a fundraiser breakfast Friday morning (June 29) at Northern Quest Resort and Casino. All proceeds go to The Healing Lodge of Seven Nations support the Addiction Prevention Program.
Herren says he has been alcohol and drug free since August 1, 2008, and has refocused his life on sobriety and family.
