The Spokane Indians are bringing the 4th of July Pennant Run home. The team announced today that their annual summer fun run will move to Avista Stadium for the first time and will be held yearly on the 4th of July, with participants running through the beautiful campus of the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center and finishing on home plate.
In keeping with the patriotic theme of this year's run, the beneficiary of the 4th of July Pennant Run will be the Wounded Warrior Project, which provides programs and services to severely injured service members during the time between active duty and transition to civilian life.
The event will take place on Wednesday, July 4th at 10:00 a.m. and features three divisions: the 5K Pennant Run, a 1K Kids Run, and the Little Sluggers Dash which is free for children three and under. Awards will be given to the top overall male and female finishers in the 5K and 1K, while kids in the Little Sluggers Dash will have the chance to run with OTTO the Mascot around the bases and enjoy snacks and fun activities following the race.
Participants receive a technical t-shirt, a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project, and a ticket to the Spokane Indians baseball game that night against the Yakima Bears, which will be followed by a spectacular 4th of July fireworks display.
The early registration deadline is Sunday, June 17th. A $5.00 late registration fee will be added to all entries after June 17th, with late registration available up to 20 minutes prior to the race.
A registration form is available by visiting SpokaneIndiansPennantRun.com or at the Indians front office at Avista Stadium. Participants can also signup online at active.com.
