SPOKANE, Wash. -

The crew on KHQ Local News Today is declaring this week Golf Week in Spokane. Because they can.

There are seven courses municipal courses in the Spokane area between the city and the county. And that's not to mention the various other private courses and country clubs both in Spokane and the nearby surrounding areas. The Spokane Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau says there are more than 30 courses within a short drive.

Not only will KHQ Local News Today celebrate the great golf opportunities in the Inland Northwest, they will also use the game of golf to get to know some of the area's most famous and influential public figures. Reporter Matt Rogers will go from Spokane to Pullman to play a hole of golf with a VIP, and interview them along the way on live TV.

Tuesday: A Mayor
Wednesday: A golf pro
Thursday: A coach
Friday: A commander

Tune in each morning this week on KHQ Local News Today to find out who the celebrity golfer of the day is!

WORLEY, Idaho - Most of us have heard it by now: name a list of accolades and the relatively new Circling Raven Golf Course has likely been on it. In a little over six years, Circling Raven has made as much noise as any course in this part of the country. It funny, though, that its signature is still the warble of a bird, the sound of the breeze through the grass and the vista that takes your breathe away.More >>

Silver Mountain Resort in Kellogg is getting a new addition this summer.  Nine new additions to be exact.  Galena Ridge is set to open a brand new 9-hole golf course there later this month, a course that's literally risen from the ashes of North Idaho's past. The new course lies high in the hills above Kellogg where, historically, the headlines have been more about mining the terrain.More >>
