Gonzaga University women's basketball head coach Kelly Graves announced the addition of junior Lindsay Sherbert to the 2012-13 Bulldogs squad. Sherbert is transferring to Gonzaga from the University of California and will redshirt the upcoming season due to NCAA transfer rules.

"Lindsay is an absolutely perfect fit for our style," stated Gonzaga head coach Kelly Graves. "I believe she has the opportunity to not only be one of the best players in our conference, but one of the best players in the country. She is a great young woman, strong student and great teammate with an amazing basketball resume."

Sherbert played in all 35 games and started 21 at Cal as a sophomore in 2011-12. She finished the season scoring 182 points, grabbing 97 rebounds, dishing out 15 assists and making 20 steals. The 6-0 guard/forward led the Golden Bears in 3-pointers made with 38 and was named Pac-12 All-Academic team honorable mention. Cal finished 25-10 overall, 13-5 in the Pacific-12 Conference and made it to the NCAA Tournament second round.

As a freshman, Sherbert appeared in 33 games and started 31. She ended the season fourth on the team in scoring (8.1 ppg) and rebounding (4.8 rpg). Sherbert led the team in made-threes (47) and three-point shooting percentage (34.3). For her efforts, the Temecula, Calif., native was named to the Pacific-10 All-Freshman team.

Her high school career was a decorated one. Her senior season Sherbert played in both the McDonald's All-American and the WBCA All-American games, was named 2010 Parade Magazine third team All-American and participated in the 2010 USA Basketball Women's U-18 National Team trials. Sherbert averaged 27.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game her senior season at Great Oak High School. She was a three-time Press Enterprise Player of the Year and the league Most Valuable Player.

Sherbert played club basketball with Cal Swish and helped the team win the Nike Nationals in 2009.

"We expect Lindsay to step into the role of Katelan Redmon," explained Graves. "She is going to be that player who can play both inside and outside; can handle the ball and shoot it."

Sherbert joins a long list of successful and talented transfers to join the Bulldog program. The list includes the likes of Tiffanie Shives, Katelan Redmon – who was recently drafted by the WNBA's New York Liberty; and current Zags Haiden Palmer and Taelor Karr.

Sherbert's father Ty Sherbert played basketball at the University of Denver from 1982-85. She is the great great niece of John Wooden.
