MONMOUTH, Ore. -- Senior Brady Kincannon (Federal Way, Wash./Decatur HS) hit a two-run home run in the top of the fourth inning in game one on Sunday, but the Central Washington University baseball team was unable to overcome an early 8-0 deficit in falling, 10-2, to 13th-ranked Western Oregon University. CWU then lost the nightcap, 5-1, as WOU completed a four-game series sweep.

Central Washington is now 16-26 overall and 8-16 in Great Northwest Athletic Conference competition. Western Oregon improved to 31-8 overall and 20-2 in conference action, securing its 11th consecutive GNAC title in the process.

Kincannon provided all the offense for the Wildcats in game one, blasting his two-run home run to left-center field. Western Oregon outhit CWU, 13-7, including five extra-base hits to win the opener 10-2. Kincannon accounted for nearly half of the CWU offense, collecting three hits in four at-bats, as he was the long Wildcat with more than one hit.

Western Oregon starting pitcher Kirk Lind improved to 5-2 on the season with six innings of work, surrendering five hits and two runs with five strikeouts.

Game two was much of the same for the Wildcat offense as they were only able to manufacture one run, and that came in their final at-bat in the seventh inning. Junior Kyle Sani (Kennewick, Wash./Southridge HS) had a leadoff triple and came home two batters later on a RBI single by senior David Leid (Carson City, Nev./Carson HS). Sani finished 2 for 3 at the plate in the finale, as each team finished with just five hits apiece.

Central Washington starting pitcher Jason Lotzer (Lynnwood, Wash.) threw a six-inning complete game in the nightcap, falling to 3-4 despite allowing just the five hits. Western Oregon stole seven bases in as many attempts in the game, including two steals of home on double-steal situations.

The Wildcats return to Ellensburg for their final home series of the 2012 season next weekend. CWU hosts Montana State University Billings on Friday and Saturday (May 4-5), with Friday's series opener slated for a 1 p.m. start.
