Fight At Pend Oreille County Campground Results In Double Homicide

On Sunday, April 29, 2012 at approx. 12:20 a.m. Pend Oreille County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a stabbing or possible shots fired call at the Yocum Lake Campground area, located approximately 10 miles south of Ione, Washington, off of Leclerc Road North.
When deputies arrived in the area they learned a group of about 10 young adults, ranging in age from 18 to approx. 24 years of age had been drinking alcohol together at their campsite. At some point during the night an altercation occurred between two males identified as Steven Q. Devine, age 22 and Richard R. Hill, age 18, both of Spokane.
Both males were found deceased, Devine with an apparent stab wound and Hill with an apparent gunshot wound. The Medical Examiner will determine cause of death.
The Washington State Patrol and U.S. Border Patrol continue to assist the Pend Oreille County Sheriff's Office as this investigation continues.
