Tri-City Americans send off 20-year-olds with great memories

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Now Tri-Cities bids farewell to the elder Tri-City Americans. Thursday night captain Mason Wilgosh and assistant captains Brendan Shinnimin and Adam Hughesman played their final game with the Americans. The Portland Winterhawks eliminated Tri-City from the Western Conference finals in four games.

Now the three 20-year olds--all from Winnipeg--will go their separate ways, but not after leaving their mark with the Tri-Cities and with each other. "It's pretty special, and me, Hughie always joke about writing a book about this and getting rich that way. But yea it's special and it's fun," Wilgosh said.

"Being able to play with Mason and Adam--who I've played with since I was seven years old--it's a story that it's never going to be told anywhere else. To be able to play with those guys, I wouldn't have asked for anything else," Shinnimin recalled.

"It's really been a special bond that we've grown together and I'm going to miss those guys. We won't play together ever again but we'll for sure hang out all the time and see each other. So our friendship isn't over," Hughesman added.
