Who Will Seahawks Take at No. 12?

Seattle coach Pete Carroll said he and his team have been through all the different draft scenarios and is confident they will pick the right player for the Seahawks.

With the NFL draft two days away, Pete Carroll has made it clear he won't shy away from taking what the Seahawks need. And that includes the position of quarterback.

Carroll and General Manager John Schneider met with reporters Monday to discuss the team's master strategy for the draft on Thursday.

"I think our group does a really good job of questioning each other," said Scheider. "We have a lot of open communication throughout the process."

"We've discussed every option and opportunity at great length, so we've already cleared our way through that decision," added Carroll. "You obviously can do it for the first twelve picks but as you get down farther along things change. But at this position, early in the draft in the first round, we're going to get through every one of them and we won't be surprised by the opportunity."

That still doesn't say a lot about who the Seahawks will choose on Thursday, does it? The mock drafts on sites like NFL.com predict they will take Melvin Ingram (DE, South Carolina), David DeCastro (G, Stanford) or Quinton Couples (DE, North Carolina) in the first round. Second round predictions are that Seattle will keep adding to the defensive or offensive line, with players like Mike Adams (OT, Ohio State) or Kendall Reyes (DT, Connecticut).

Of course, nothing is a done deal until it is done. And much of the pre-draft talk teams do either changes on a dime or is meant to throw off competing teams. To borrow the old stand-by in the TV business… we'll just have to wait and see.
