SPOKANE, Wash. -

Arguably the best basketball of the day on the first day of the State B tournament was played on the west court at 3:45 p.m.

The fact that Colfax came away with an eight point win doesn't tell the whole story.

The game was 41-38 with :55 to go when LaConner hit a pair of free throws to close the gap. But then Colfax's Corey Maltone hit a layup to go ahead 43-38. The game wasn't really over until LaConner missed a shot on the other end. After all the free throws and extra layups were over, Colfax had a 46-38 win and a ticket to the 2B semifinals.
