Gonzaga senior forward Kelly Bowen was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week after leading the Zags to at least a share of the conference title for the eighth straight year.
Bowen averaged 14 points and 12.5 rebounds in the Bulldogs two wins last week. She scored a career-high 19 points in the Zags' 87-55 win over Santa Clara. She made 7-of-8 from the floor and was a perfect 5-of-5 from the free throw lone. She also had nine rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Two days later, against Pepperdine, the native of Victoria, Australia grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds – also a GU single-game high this season. She scored nine points in the win.
Other nominees included Kristen Riley (BYU); Alex Cowling (LMU); Jackie Nared (SMC), Izzy Chilcott (USD); Mel Khlok (USF).
Gonzaga concludes the regular season on Saturday against BYU. The game starts at 2 p.m. and can be seen live on SWX.
