It is officially "Anything Can Happen Week" in the West Coast Conference. Gonzaga, first positioned to finish second in the conference, then first, then second again could realistically finish anywhere from first to fourth. And all because of some strange happenings over the past few days.
The Bulldogs will have to get over Saturday's loss in San Francisco and prepare for a huge game at home against BYU on Thursday. The Zags and Cougars are tied for second in the conference, and both are a game behind Saint Mary's with two games to play.
The regular season conference championship is still up in the air, despite Gonzaga losing to San Francisco, because of Saint Mary's loss to Loyola Marymount. Meanwhile, BYU has rattled off wins against Portland, Pepperdine, San Francisco and Santa Clara. LMU has come on strong as well, sitting right behind the Cougars and Zags in the standings.
Gonzaga's game against BYU is Thursday at 8 p.m. on ESPN2. They travel to San Diego on Saturday for a 4 p.m. game on KHQ/SWX. Their last regular season game before the WCC tournament is Feb. 27 at home against Longwood (also on KHQ/SWX).
