AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. -
It's "Fight Night" in Airway Heights on Monday, as 24 ladies will attempt to box their way into the Olympics in London.
The U.S. Olympic Women's Boxing Trials are at Northern Quest Resort & Casino west of Spokane. The fights are highlighted by two boxers from the west side of the state, three different weight classes and ultimately just three champions vying to move on to the world competition in China this May.
The women in Spokane this week are the best in the United States at their sport. And a berth into the Olympics would be a dream come true.
"It's exciting it's finally here," said Queen Underwood, who hails from the Seattle area. "This is unbelievable, I'm actually going to be one of the first. [I am] making history, this isn't going to happen again. I really feel blessed, and I really feel this is something I can tell my kids and everybody. This is just going down in the books."
This will be the first time that women's boxing will be a part of the Olympic games.
Tickets to the fights at Northern Quest were still available as of Monday morning.
