After retiring for football three months ago, former Weber State and Utah head coach Ron McBride said Monday he would return to the game he loves best. McBride will coach the offensive line for the Utah Blaze of the Arena Football League.
"I'm excited about the opportunity," said McBride in a news release by the Blaze. "I coached the offensive line during the first 30 years of my career. It's a passion of mine and something I really enjoy doing. The arena game is a new and exciting opportunity for me, and I'm really looking forward to coaching these young players and helping them develop."
McBride coached Weber State for seven seasons before retiring last November. Before that, he held the reigns at nearby Utah where he led the Utes to six bowl games in twelve years and led the team to six wins in 11 tries against rival BYU.
The Utah Blaze open the AFL season March 10 at San Antonio. They host Spokane May 5 in Salt Lake City.
