On the heels of a very strong weekend at home in the Vandal Indoor and Idaho Indoor Open, University of Idaho men's and women's track and field made their marks on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association regional rankings.

Idaho's men moved up two spots to 15th in the West Region this week, while the women climbed seven places into 11th in the West. The Idaho men's team also holds a No. 58 national ranking through the USTFCCCA.

The Vandal men were helped along this weekend by senior Jeremy Klas hitting a season-best 17-7.25 (5.37m) in the men's pole vault to climb into a tie for 10th nationally in the event, along with junior Barry Britt's Western Athletic Conference-leading 4:12.84 in the men's mile.

Idaho's women received a boost from junior Liga Velvere, who broke a six-year-old Idaho school record in the 800m with a time of 2:07.63, which ranks 23rd in the NCAA and leads the WAC by a three-second margin. In that same race, sophomore Hannah Kiser ran a 2:10.65 and senior Erica Digby ran a 2:11.22 to move into second and third in the conference, respectively.

Both Idaho's men and women will try to improve upon those standards this weekend when the teams travel to Seattle for the Husky Classic, hosted by Washington.
