SPOKANE, Wash. (Feb. 6) -- Central Washington University senior Bryan Mack (Arlington, Wash.) has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Male Athlete of the Week for indoor track and field, the conference office announced on Monday.
Mack is the second consecutive Wildcat to earn Athlete of the Week honors following the selection of junior Brennan Boyes (Puyallup, Wash.) for the week of Jan. 23-29.
Mack posted the second-fastest time in conference history for the men's indoor 60-meter dash, running it in 6.89 seconds on Friday at the Vandal Indoor. He improved his season's best mark in the event by 0.06 seconds and placed second in the meet in the event. He was also the runner-up in the men's triple jump with a best mark of 45 feet, 9 3/4 inches.
In addition to competing at the Vandal Indoor on Friday, Mack also competed in the Idaho Indoor Open on Saturday, placing 10th in the 200-meter dash (out of 91 finishers) and sixth in the long jump (of 46 competitors).
Central Washington has its final tune-ups prior to the GNAC Indoor Track and Field Championships this weekend, traveling to Seattle for the Husky Classic on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 10-11), and the UW Open on Sunday (Feb. 12). Both meets are at Dempsey Indoor on the University of Washington campus. The conference meet will be held Feb. 17-18 in Nampa, Idaho.
