While the men's team battles BYU in the conference game of the season, Gonzaga's 20th-ranked women's team has a home game on the docket.

The Zags, tied with BYU at 8-1 atop the West Coast Conference standings, host Portland on Thursday. Sure, the Pilots are 1-8 so far this season, but head coach Kelly Graves isn't taking anything for granted these days.

"Regardless of what their record is they're going to be ready," said Graves, "They always seem to play us tough. Before Saint Mary's beat us the other day they were out last loss here in The Kennel to a WCC team. So, they won here before and we hope they don't do it again."

The Pilots nearly came from behind to beat Loyola Marymount last Saturday, but lost 68-60 in the end. They pulled to within four points in the second half but couldn't get any closer as LMU continued to hit free throws to seal the win.

Thursday's game in Spokane gets underway at 6 p.m.
