A total of 29 young ladies will compete Wednesday night for a spot on the Spokane Shock's 2012 Rockstar Dance Team.
The event at The Knitting Factory in downtown Spokane is open to public, with tickets costing $7. KHQ's Stephanie Vigil will be the host for the tryouts, and SWX will be there with their cameras to record the competition for air at a later date.
The competition began earlier this month with a total 50 participants. Judges whittled that number down to 29 in time for Wednesday final competition. In the finals, participants are divided into nine groups of three and one group of two. Each group will perform three pieces of choreography taught by Dance Team Director Maggie Kazemba at the first round of the tryouts. The winners will be announced at the end of the night.
"In my tenure there is no question that this is the most talented group we have ever had," Kazemba said in a news release. "Every spot is up for grabs – returners and rookies alike. It will be the most competitive finals in my coaching experience. It's going to be a great show and we hope to pack the house with Shock fans!"
A total of 18 dancers will make the team.
