PULLMAN, Wash. -
Brock Motum scored just 12 points against Oregon last week. Needless to say, he did much better against Oregon State, which was a big part of the reason the Cougars dismantled the Beavers last week.
Motum came alive, scoring a team-high 26 points to lead Washington State to an 81-76 win on New Year's Eve at Spokane Arena. He also had eight rebounds.
"He's a competitor," said head coach Ken Bone of Motum. "He understands what was at stake and we dropped on the other day. This would have been out second home game and we really needed a win. I think that's just the competitive side of him coming out. He hit some big threes and put some points on the board. He did a good job."
Davonte Lacey also stepped up for WSU, scoring 18 points.
The Cougars play at Utah on Thursday, and at Colorado on Saturday.
