Adding hand weights to interval training is way to "up the ante" on a training routine.

The weights don't need to be heavy. Weights from three to five pounds are great for most people. It's how you use them that make all the difference, helping you get your heart rate up.

Walking Side Squat: hold the weights in front of you close to your chest. Take two steps to the left and squat, and then take two steps for your left and squat.

Front lunge: Keeping the weights at chest level close to your body, lunge forward while keeping your abs tight. Don't extend your knee past your feet.

Crab Walk: Facing up, lift yourself up with your hands and feet on the floor. Take a couple of crawls forward, then go backward.

Crab Walk Position with weights: Repeat the crab walk position, but instead of walking lift the weights up and to the opposite side.

Repeat each exercise four times with only a short transition time between each exercise.
