During the lockout, we saw a lot of players head overseas to earn a little extra where they could, but now that terms have been settled, how many of them will be coming home?
Doren Williams headed to Turkey to sign a 5 million dollar, prorated contract with an NBA-out clause. Basically it meant that Williams would play for Turkey until the lockout was ended and he would get paid a portion of the 5 million based on how much he played. It turned out to be a great deal for Williams and many of his fellow players followed suit.
Players like Kenyon Martin, J.R. Smith, and Wilson Chandler signed with the Chinese Basketball Association who had said they would be accepting players, but not with an out clause. If the lockout was lifted the players would be stuck playing for China until the season was over.
Still the players signed up for the guaranteed paycheck, and now that the lockout is coming to an end, people are wondering if these players will be allowed to come home.
