Chauncey Jones says the Eagles now have what is called "a program" and will have to live up to expectations next year (Photo: SWX)

At this time last year the Eastern Eagles were getting ready for a playoff run. What a different a year makes.
Last year they went undefeated – 8-0 – on The Inferno including playoffs. This year, because of a combination of bad luck and costly injuries, it all caught up with them.
They were close Saturday against Portland State. Riding a four-game win streak and with Taiwan Jones watching from the sidelines, they didn't get it done. They had –1 rushing yards. Negative one yards rushing – they were one dimensional.
So when you say, "they're not going to miss Taiwan, or this player of that player", I saw men lie, women lie, numbers don't. Bo Levi Mitchell can throw for 5,000 yards but if they can't run, sustain drives and chew up the clock it's going to be one of those disappointing performances.
But hey, give it up for Coach Beau Baldwin. He did an excellent job of putting together a MASH unit. But now the run is over.
Eastern now has something you call "a program". Things are going to be expected of them. Next year there can't be any excuses. And hopefully they will have more than four home games.
