He did it quietly without a lot of fanfare, but he did it. University's Conner Johnson moved past the great Mark Rypien for second place on the GSL's list of single season passing leaders.
Rypien, a former Super Bowl MVP who played at Shadle Park High School, had 1,989 yards passing in a single season. Johnson has 2,215 yards this year. Both Rypien and Johnson fall short of the all-time leader, Connor Halliday, who threw for 2,255 yards in a single season. Halliday is now a backup quarterback at Washington State.
Johnson led the Titans to a first-place 3A finish in the GSL regular season. Their first playoff game is Nov. 12 against a team from the Big 9.
