Where's the beef? Washington State hopes to have the answer this weekend when they host Oregon State in "The Seattle Game" presented by Washington's Beef Producers.
After eight appearances against non-conference opponents at what is now CenturyLink Field, this will mark the first time that a Pac-12 team will play the Cougars on the Seattle Seahawks' home turf.
The Cougars could use a win against a team struggling to pull its weight in the newly expanded conference. Washington State is 1-2 in conference play, while the Beavers are 1-5 after a loss to Brigham Young last week. The stakes are raised if the Cougars are going to beef up their bowl resume and win the minimum six games to become eligible for postseason play.
"This is a must-win game, if we lose this game we're under .500," said running back Carl Winston. "It's our third Pac-12 game and it's very important, so we have to go out there and get a win. We don't want to be under .500."
"There's times in every season where you're kind of up and down a bit, and the teams that can weather the storm – that can handle it – do better in the long run," said receiver Jared Karstetter.
Head coach Paul Wulff said this week quarterback Jeff Tuel would be the starter for Saturday's game. He is in his second week back after recovering from a collarbone injury.
