Tri-Cities, Wash. – The Tri-Cities Water Follies Association, H1 Unlimited and the Air National Guard are encouraging you to catch the 2011 Lamb Weston Columbia Cup on the Versus/NBC Sports Network, Sunday, October 30 at 1 p.m.
This year's Columbia Cup race, which was won by Dave Villwock in the Spirit of Qatar, is being shown – along with all of the races on the Air National Guard H1 Unlimited Series – as part of a new partnership between ANG/H1 Unlimited and the Versus Network. The partnership gives the unlimited hydroplanes a nationwide platform to showcase the thrilling brand of racing Tri-Citians know and love. The broadcast on Sunday will also provide great exposure for the Tri-Cities, with a brilliant July day as the backdrop for the race.
"The Tri-Cities is well known to hydroplane race fans, but being featured in a nationally televised race will create a positive impression with thousands of viewers who have never attended a race here" stated Kris Watkins, President and CEO of the Tri-Cities Visitor and Convention Bureau. "In 2011 we had the Miss VisitTRI-CITIES.com on the water, both in the Tri-Cities and in Seattle for SeaFair, so the Tri-Cities will get additional exposure through that as well."
Versus can be seen in the Tri-Cities on Charter Communications channel 36 on DIRECT-TV Channel 603 and DISH Network channel 151. Veteran motorsports announcer Bill Weber and former unlimited driver Mike Allen call the action for Versus.
