BOISE, Idaho - The NCAA has reinstated a Boise State defensive lineman who served a six-game suspension for taking more than $13,000 in improper benefits before and after enrolling at the university.
NCAA officials announced the decision Wednesday in the case of Ricky Tjong-A-Tjoe. The Idaho Statesman first reported that he is eligible to play Saturday when the No. 5 Broncos (6-0) take on Air Force.
Tjong-A-Tjoe is one of three Broncos who were suspended by the school before the season opener so the NCAA could investigate possible infractions. Safety Cedric Febis served a one-game suspension, while receiver Geraldo Boldewijn missed four games. All three are from Amsterdam, but moved to Boise to play prep football.
Investigators say Tjong-A-Tjoe received benefits from a host family, which included Boise State boosters.
