Austin Pacheco hit a 64-yard field goal with :27 left to give his team a 27-24 win on Oct. 1 (YouTube / tanrig)
Austin Pacheco, from Carson City, Nev., kicked the fifth-longest field goal in the history of high school football, yet only a handful of college recruiters have barely batted an eye.
Pacheco hit from 64-yards out earlier this month to lift his team to a 27-24 victory. There were just 27 seconds left in the game. And apparently he has been hitting field goals like that one all season long.
"I'm still in shock," Pacheco was quoted to have said on LostLetterman.com. "I knew it was good as soon as I hit it."
While Pacheco has become somewhat of an Internet sensation – he's even garnered attention from ESPN – only three colleges appear to have an interest, according to MaxPreps: Nevada, San Diego State and Northern Arizona.
