Posted: Updated:

Sacramento, Calif., September 21, 2011—H1 Unlimited today unveiled a Fall schedule that will see the series participating in the meeting of the general assembly of the Union Internationale Motonautique in Abu Dhabi, October 17-24, and the field for the 3rd annual Oryx Cup UIM World Championship in Doha, Qatar, November 17-19, expanded to 12 teams.

Two Air National Guard Series race boats, 22 Webster Racing and 25 Superior Racing, have been redone in special color schemes promoting the Oryx Cup for the UIM event and are en route to Abu Dhabi where they will take part in activities during the UIM meetings.

The ten boat field that raced in the Air National Guard Championship in San Diego September 15-17 will then join the teams from Abu Dhabi to make up the twelve boat field for the Oryx Cup.

H1 Unlimited Chairman Sam Cole thanked several organizations for making it possible for the sport to be showcased in an introduction to representatives from 60 countries who participate in the UIM.

"First and foremost, UIM and its President Dr. Raffaele Chiulli, the Abu Dhabi International Marine Sports Club (ADIMSC) under the patronage of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, the American Power Boat Association, Qatar Marine Sports Federation, H.E. Sheikh Hassan Bin Jabor Al Thani and David Holley of Peters & May," Cole said. "Truly everyone is helping us take our sport to a new level and this will allow us to introduce the fastest boats in the world to the rest of the world.

"Dr. Chiulli has also asked us to make a presentation to the meeting delegates about the sport during an open session. It is an honor and tremendous opportunity to let the world leaders of powerboat racing see our boats up close," added Cole.

Cole will be speaking to the open forum on October 23rd and will be joined in the presentation by Dave Villwock, the reigning UIM World Champion and the winningest driver in the history of Unlimited Hydroplane racing.

"We owe a great deal of gratitude to Sheikh Hassan and QMSF for helping to make this possible. He shares our vision of global expansion and has been supportive since the idea first came up," Cole said.

The turbine-powered boats are among the fastest race boats in the world, reaching speeds of 200 mph in straightaways.
