It was a welcome sight for Cougar fans on Tuesday, as quarterback Jeff Tuel was at practice in Pullman throwing a football.
Tuel, who cracked his collarbone in Washington State's opener against Idaho State, was cleared to throw this week. Six weeks after being injured, he is still on track to play in the Cougs' next home game on October 15.
This week's bye couldn't have come at a better time.
"He's been cleared to throw, which is good news at this point and that's all we can do" said head coach Paul Wulff. "He has an opportunity now to come out and throw the ball around, which is good."
The Cougars' next game is also their Pac-12 opener against Colorado in Boulder on Oct. 1.
