Cougars Win Circling Raven title; EWU Golfer Has Career-Best

Washington State's women's golf team won the Circling Raven Collegiate Invitational by nine strokes, posting a 308 (+20) in Tuesday's final round in Worley.

Eastern Washington also participated in the tournament and placed 21st out of 22 teams despite a career-best performance from Jayme Carbon, who tied for 13th out of 116 total competitors.

Gonzaga, who hosted the tournament, finished sixth behind strong performances by freshman Han Wu and Alice Kim

The Cougars finished their first fall tournament with a team score of 913 (+49), nine strokes ahead of second-place San Francisco and Portland State. Four Cougars placed in the top-25, including three in the top-15. It is the first team title since winning the WSU Cougar Cup last fall.

Kristen Allard led WSU with a 225 (+9), finishing in a tie for fifth. Kristen Rue tied for 10th with a 229 (+13) and Mallory Kent tied for 13th after a firing a final round 73 (+1). Emma Betland later added a final-round 77 (+5) to tie for 24th with a 244 (+17)

Washington State will host the WSU Cougar Cup at Palouse Ridge Golf Club in Pullman next week, playing 54 holes on Monday before playing the final 18 on Tuesday. Eastern Washington and Gonzaga will also take part in the tournament.
