The Washington Huskies are trying to plug the holes in their zone coverage this week after getting torched by FCS powerhouse Eastern Washington last weekend.

Washington allowed 473 yards passing on Saturday, as Bo Levi Mitchell lit up the secondary with a career-high 69 pass attempts. It was the second-most pass attempts in EWU history.

The Huskies also allowed 30 first downs.

Head coach Steve Sarkisian admitted his team will have to make significant improvements this week against Hawaii.

"Where we need to get better is, when we're in zone coverage, we need to become much more sticky in our zone coverage," said Sarkisian. "We have to understand that 'yes, this is my zone', but when a man enters my zone he essentially becomes my man."

Sarkisian said his defense was playing football a little too close to the textbook against the Eagles.
