The countdown is on to the Seahawks' regular season opener. That would explain why the roster feels a lot smaller than when camp started in August. It is, indeed, smaller.

Seattle released four players, including kicker Jeff Reed and linebacker David Vobora, who is a former Idaho Vandal.

But the Seahawks - ever tinkering with the team - claimed four players. They picked up tackle Jarriel King from the Giants; defensive tackle Landon Cohen from the Patriots; defensive tackle Al Woods from the Buccaneers and kicker Stevem Hauschk from Denver.

They also picked up six more players for the practice squad, including running back Vai Taua and cornerback Ron Parker. Parker originally signed with the team in July before being cut. Taua, signed and released twice now by the Seahawks, gets to stick around a little longer.
