Mt. Spokane vs. Central Valley (7pm in Spokane-N. Idaho area)

The speedster of the Greater Spokane League, Chase Naccarato, will lead his Mt. Spokane Wildcats into 2011 season Friday night against a bigger 4A team in Central Valley.

Mt. Spokane was the cream of the GSL crop last year. They beat University in the playoffs and then stalled against eventual runner up Kamiakin in the second round. This year they break in a new quarterback but return Naccarato, perhaps the best – and fastest – athlete in the league.

Central Valley boasts arguably the best passer in the GSL in Gaven Deyarmin. The Bears were challenged on the defensive side off the ball last season and hope to show marked improvement this year.

Kamiakin vs. Prosser (7:30pm in Tri-Cities-Yakima area)

Last season Prosser opened up the year against Kamiakin and lost 28-0. Friday the Mustangs take another crack at the Braves at home on SWX. It is a good measuring stick for this 2A program to see how it stacks up against the 3A state runner-ups.

The Mustangs say they will rely on their fast defensive to slow down the Braves' offense. "We want to find out what we can do defensively and we feel like we have a lot of speed and we've tried to test that and some of the stuff we've done this summer at football camp. That'll be a lot of fun if they come out spreading the football around," said Benji Sonnischen, Prosser Head Coach.

"We've got a lot of speed ourselves. We've been working on like seven on seven all this summer. So we're pretty good at man coverage," said Joey Hurtado, senior outside linebacker.

"Our defensive line is actually really fast, pretty fast off the ball, and we're also pretty tough to take down," said Rodolfo Cruz, senior defensive end.

The game in Prosser kicks off 7:30 and can be seen live on SWX-TV in the Tri-Cities/Yakima region. It can also be seen online on SWXRightNow.com.
