The Idaho Vandals are hoping to go bowling once again, so why not open against Bowling Green?

The Vandals play their season opener this Thursday at the Kibbie Dome – one of the first games of the season across the country.

The team started breaking down game tape of Bowling Green all the way back in spring, but now they have to fine tine that gameplan against a Falcon team that cannot be overlooked.

So far in camp it's been evident that one of Idaho's strengths is in the backfield, where a host of running backs are willing and able to carry whatever load necessary.

"We have four guys who are capable of being the number one guy, we don't know who will be the number one guy, and honestly it doesn't really matter because whoever is in there is going to make plays," said senior running back Kama Bailey. "That's nice to know: that if I'm in there or if I'm out, I know whoever is going to be there they're going to make plays. It's nice to have that depth behind us."

Akey is confident in starting quarterback Brian Reader, who as a senior finally gets his first season as a full time starter.

"His leadership is very, very strong," said head coach Robb Akey in a statement. "It's not like you're throwing a guy out there to the wolves that hasn't done it before."

Thursday's game kicks off inside the Kibbie Dome at 6 p.m. Fans with Dish or DirecTV can find the game on Altitude network.
