Karl, himself a cancer survivor, was the main speaker at the event. He also played in the golf tournament on Saturday.
Over the past six years Karl has fought battles with head, neck and prostate cancer. He has since become extremely educated about cancer treatments, research and funding options.
"Two bouts with cancer, it's kind of my passion," Karl told SWX on the golf course. "I love basketball and I just want to be a partner and an ambassador for cancer and give an awareness to how important finding a cure for this disease is and how difficult it's going to be."
Participants held a basketball gala at the Davenport Hotel after a day of golf at Spokane Country Club on Saturday.
