The high school football season kicks off Friday night in Idaho. All eyes are on the defending state champions from Coeur d'Alene.

The Vikings are out to repeat as Idaho 5A champions and they have the schedule to prove it. Coeur d'Alene has scheduled several tough road games this season, including trips to Rocklin, Calif., Vancouver, Wash. and Boise.

Right now, though, it's all about getting on the practice field to get ready for Friday's opener at Rocky Mountain.

"It's a long summer and we're ready to hit somebody else," said head coach Shawn Amos. "The kids are tired of hitting each other. We're ready to go down and rock Rocky."

Amos said his players' work ethic has been great this summer and they are ready for the season.
