Former Spokane Shock head coach Rob Keefe set the record straight – from his perspective – about his firing last week by the team's front office.

Speaking on SWX Tonight, Keefe said it was a "Jimmy Johnson-Jerry Jones kind of thing", meaning a situation in which he and the team's owners didn't see eye to eye on a number of things.

"I had a vision. I had a dream that when I started this thing two years ago I wanted it to go into a particular area, and we really just did not agree on a lot of things," said Keefe.

Keefe said he was hurt to hear the term "code of conduct" bantered around as the reason his contract would not be renewed. That code, said Keefe, was "very vague". And he reiterated he did nothing unethical and certainly didn't do anything illegal.

"There is nothing I would have done different as head coach of the Spokane Shock," said Keefe. "I am a very aggressive person, I'm very intense, I'm a passionate person, I'm very obsessive."

Keefe said he has already received calls from other AFL coaches. His job prospects include at least one position as a head coach, but his ultimate goal is to coach in the outdoor game – either at the college level or in the NFL.

The Shock said last week that they have already begun the search for a new coach.
