SPOKANE, WA - It's been five days since the Spokane Shock announced Rob Keefe would no longer be the team's head coach.  Today, Keefe released a personal statement saying he felt it was important for not only him as a person, but the city of Spokane as well to know more about the situation at hand.  The full statement is below:

"I was surprised and saddened to learn that I have been relieved of my duties as Head Football Coach of the Spokane Shock. I have worked as hard as possible to address the needs of my players, my coaches, and my fans over the past two seasons. I was so proud to represent Spokane in the utmost professional, respectable manner and never considered my job anything less than a serious matter and significant priority.

My family and I have been able to endure this difficult time in our lives for several reasons. First and foremost, I am proud of my character and personal conduct both on and off the field. Secondly, my dreams and aspirations for the Spokane Shock organization have always been larger than life.  I will not feel ashamed for trying to do what I think is best for my players and coaches. I am disappointed that I was not supported both personally and professionally in the pursuit of these dreams. That these players and coaches were able to achieve the success that they did last season under such circumstances makes me enormously proud.

It is important to me that the people of Spokane know that I will continue in the future to conduct myself in the same manner that I did in leading this team. My passion, goals and fundamental beliefs for this organization are unwaivered, and these recent events do not detract from the love I have for the game of football. I am proud of the coach that I became, the man that I am, and the way that I represented this city.  I would not have changed anything about my time here as the head coach of the Spokane Shock. This great city has given me so much both personally and professionally over the past several years, and I could not leave here with a stain on my reputation in the eyes of my family and fans. I leave here knowing that I represented this city well, both on the football field and off.

Moving forward, I wish only the best for the future team and coaches. For my players in particular, I wish them nothing but success on the field and in life. The coaches already know how I feel about them. I couldn't be more proud of their hard work and dedication. These players and coaches will always have a special place in my heart. I love them very much, and will always be here for them."
