SALEM, Ore. – Joseph Panik went 3 for 4, scored three runs and drove in four more to lead the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes to their fourth consecutive Northwest League victory over the Spokane Indians 8-4 on Saturday night.

Both teams had 10 hits but the Volcanoes did a better job of scoring, taking an 8-0 lead after four innings.

The Volcanoes got rolling from the start. Jesus Galindo and Panik singled to open their half of the first inning. Jorge Alfaro gave up a passed ball and Brett Krill followed with a two-run single.

Salem-Keizer went out front 6-0 in the third hitting starter Nicholas Martinez (0-2) hard. Charles Jones doubled and Galindo singled then stole second to set up Panik's two-run single. Krill then hit a double and Mike Murray followed that with a two-run double.

Juan Grullon took over in the fourth on the mound for Spokane but he couldn't stop the Volcanoes. Charles Jones singled with one out and one batter later Panik hit his fifth homer of the year.

The Indians finally got on the scoreboard in the fifth when Alfaro led off with his fifth home run of the season.

They came up with their second run with Trever Adams singled to lead off the sixth and scored two outs later on Alfaro's double.

Spokane scored its final two runs in the eighth when Yefry Castillo walked, Adams hit his fourth triple of the year and then scored on Guillermo Pimentel's sacrifice fly.

Adams led Spokane with three hits.

The Indians, last in the East Division, will try and salvage the finale of the five-game series on Sunday before heading to Yakima for three games.
