With a national championship seven months behind in the rear view mirror the Eastern Eagles stepped into the present on Wednesday, beginning fall camp in the summer heat in Cheney.

Beau Baldwin is back for a fourth year as head coach at Eastern. He is joined by 52 letter winners from last year's squad, including starting quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell.

The Eagles finished last year with an 11-game win streak and a 13-2 overall record. None of that matter now, as Eastern heads into a new season with high expectations.

"We have a good team coming out, we're all focused and we had a good summer," said receiver Brandon Kaufman. "It feels right. It feels like we just picked up where we left off."

"We've been working hard all summer to be able to get in shape and get our bodies ready for this," said Mitchell. "We're finally getting here again to jump back into the season."

Wednesday's practice was a helmets-only practice. Players will be in full pads by Saturday and two-a-days begin on Monday. The Eagles' first scrimmage is Saturday, Aug. 20 at 3:30 in the afternoon.
