Organizers of the bowl game formerly known as the Humanitarian Bowl unveiled a new name Wednesday, along with a new logo featuring a potato as a football.

The Humanitarian Bowl on the blue turf in Boise is now the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.

The new name comes as the Idaho Potato Commission signed a six-year naming rights deal beginning this season and running through 2016. This year's game will be Dec. 17 at Bronco Stadium.

"We're proud to support a bowl that has become a national showcase for the State of Idaho," said Frank Muir, CEO of the IPC in a news release.

"Our new title sponsor ensures the longevity of the Bowl and means that fans around the country will continue to see exciting games on the blue turf in Boise," added bowl Executive Director Kevin McDonald.

In addition to a new name, the bowl game also has a new agreement with ESPN. The bowl game, typically one of the first of the postseason, will be on ESPN for at least the next four years. It will feature top teams from the Western Athletic Conference and the Mid-American Conference. Last year's game featured Northern Illinois and Fresno State.
