Sidney Rice Joins Tarvaris Jackson In Seattle: Leinart to Texans

Updated:

Seattle just upgraded its receiving corp, as veteran Sidney Rice agreed to a five-year, $41 million contract with the Seahawks on Wednesday.

Rice, 6-foot-4, will get $18.5 million guaranteed, and with incentives could wind up earning $44 million during his stay in Seattle.

Rice joins former teammate Tarvaris Jackson, who agreed to terms with the Seahawks earlier this week. He'll also play under former Vikings offensive coordinator Darrell Bevel, who was brought in during the offseason by head coach Pete Carroll to give the team an offensive boost.

Rice set career highs in receptions in 2009 (83), yards (1,312) and touchdowns (8) but spent much of the 2010 season on the bench because of injuries.

Matt Leinart Passes on Seattle

Matt Leinart agreed to terms with the Houston Texans on Wednesday, ending specualtion he would join former his former college coach Pete Carroll in Seattle. The Texans guaranteed Leinart $3.75 to backup current starter Matt Schaub.

I am excited to be a Texan," Leinart said on his Twitter account. "Ultimately, I had to do what was best for me at this point. People can question the decision, but it was the right one for me. I love the organization, coaching staff and my teammates. Excited to get back to Reliant tomorrow and get back to work."
