Erik Meyer will be the starting quarterback when the Spokane Shock play Arizona this weekend, coach Rob Keefe announced Thursday.

Meyer, who suffered a concussion in the Shock's recent win over Chicago, had been kept out of the lineup since June 18. He was cleared this week to return to practice. Quarterbacks Kyle Rowley and Bill Stull were also cleared to play. Rowley started last week's game, leading the Shock to a win over New Orleans. Stull, however, has been placed on reassignment.

The Shock also said Thursday they added WR Brandon Thompkins to the roster. Most recently Thompkins, 5-10 185, was with the CFL's BC Lions but was released at the end of training camp. Prior to his professional experience with the Lions, Thompkins was a duel-threat as a wide receiver and a kick returner for Arkansas State. As a Red Wolf, Thompkins collected 128 receptions for 1,701 yards and seven touchdowns. On kick returns, Thompkins returned 124 kicks for 2,696 yards nearly 22 yards/return.

Although the line-up for this weekend's game has yet to be determined, Thompkins will be eligible to play against Arizona.
