LOS ANGELES (AP) - Stanford swimmer Katie Ledecky has won the Honda Cup as the nation's top collegiate female athlete. Ledecky won five medals, including four golds, and set two world records at last summer's Rio de Janeiro Olympics. Ledecky beat out finalists Kelsey Plum, who starred in basketball at Washington, and Georgia track and field athlete Kendell Williams.

NEW YORK (AP) - Russell Westbrook has been voted NBA MVP after setting a record with 42 triple-doubles last season. Westbrook's victory ended the first NBA Awards show, which included two wins apiece for the Houston Rockets and Milwaukee Bucks. Westbrook joined Oscar Robertson as the only players to average a triple-double for the season, and he broke Robertson's single-season record set when he had 41 triple-doubles in 1961-62.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A federal appeals court upheld a ruling that dismissed a lawsuit filed by minor league baseball players accusing Major League Baseball of colluding to suppress wages. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th District on Monday affirmed a district court ruling , saying the minor leagues - like the majors - are exempt from federal antitrust law. The appeals court ruled that the players failed to state an anti-trust claim because Congress explicitly exempted minor league baseball from those laws in the Curt Flood Act of 1998. Baseball has been exempt from antitrust laws, which are designed to protect trade and commerce from unlawful restraints or monopolies, since 1922.

Paul Kariya always felt as if he knew where Teemu Selanne was on the ice when they had spectacular chemistry together as teammates. On Monday, Selanne pulled a new trick, telling Kariya where he was going: the Hockey Hall of Fame. Before Kariya got the call that he was being inducted, Selanne delivered the news that the dynamic duo that thrilled hockey in Anaheim for several years was going to be inducted together this fall.
