SPOKANE, Wash. -- Ferris put its disappointing GSL District performance behind them, advancing to the 4A state playoffs with a 83-60 win over Richland Tuesday night. Taylor Kamitomo scored a game-high 23 points in the victory, while Chris Wilson added 18 points for the Saxons. Ferris had lost the GSL District Championship game last week to Gonzaga Prep after going a perfect 18-0 in conference play, and narrowly defeated Rogers in overtime to snatch the GSL's only remaining bid to a play-in game against the Big Nine conference.
The Gonzaga Prep girls faced a similar fate after losing to Lewis & Clark in last week's district championship. The Bullpups bounced back to beat Lewis & Clark for the second seed out of the GSL, and carried that momentum into a 65-47 play-in victory over Moses Lake on Tuesday. Tia Presley led Gonzaga Prep with 16 points.
